We offer a wide range of classes for all children of all experience levels, genders and races. Our classes are taught by industry professionals who have years of experience teaching children. We pride ourselves on being welcoming and nurturing. We strive to build a safe and supportive community for our students to learn, grow, make positive lifelong memories and friendships and experience the joy of dancing and performing
BALLET
Ballet equips students with an understanding and the foundations for all dance styles, due to its focus on a high level of technique and terminology.
At Pulse, students will study under the Australian Institute of Classical Dance, following the Borovansky syllabus.
Aims of the Borovansky syllabus
- To foster and develop a love of dance.
- To encourage an awareness of ballet as a performing art in both vocational and non-vocational students.
- To allow for the flexibility in teaching and examining a wide variety of body shapes, sizes and capabilities.
- To offer a graded system for students of ballet to cater for different levels of physical development and ability which increases gradually in technical difficulty each grade.
- To encourage dance quality, style, expressiveness and musicality from the beginning and develop these progressively.
- To expose students to a wide range of movements and steps as they progress through the syllabus.
- To offer safe and continuous progression through all grades in line with “Safedance” principles
- To teach students basic human anatomy and simple principles of physiology as it relates to ballet technique.
- To give students an awareness of dance history in the context of character steps and dances which are integrated into the syllabus,reflecting the heritage of the Borovansky Ballet Company which was famed for its wholehearted vigorous approach to national dancing.
lyrical
Lyrical dance is a fusion of ballet and jazz that often uses the lyrics of music to inspire the dancer to tell a story through movement. Lyrical has a strong focus on emotions and allows the dancer to be expressive through their movements.
JAZZ
Jazz is a fun and upbeat style of dance that combines technique with power, energy, confidence and style. It is the medium between ballet and hip hop as it requires clean and accurate technique whilst providing more free and current movements to popular 21st century music.
BOYS BEAT
Our boys beat class is a specialised class which promotes and encourages boys to join dance!
It combines the dance styles of hip hop and breakdancing as students learn the foundations of hip hop and are taught a variety of breakdancing moves and techniques in a fun and safe environment.
MUSCIAL THEATRE
Musical Theatre combines the disciplines of singing, acting and dancing! It is the perfect class for building confidence and learning teamwork skills not to mention it is a lot of fun!
Each 1-hour weekly class focuses on the 3 elements of Musical Theatre:
Acting/Drama
- Participate in drama activities and games to help stimulate imagination
- Look at scripts from a range of movies, TV shows and stage productions
- Get up and act in front of each other in small groups or even solo
- Practice acting techniques from learning stage craft to creating believable characters
Singing
- Participate in scale practices to help develop strong voices
- Learn new songs from popular music and musical theatre productions
- Sing as a group to help develop confidence in singing
- Learn how to project your voice safely
Dancing
- Learn steps and movement to songs that we practice
- Learn basic dancing skills, and refine skills already known
- Practice musicality and singing while dancing
- Create energetic musical numbers that are lots of fun!
TAP
Tap dancing is a unique style of dance that involves wearing tap shoes to create music with your feet! This class is focused on helping students with musicality and dancing to (or creating) a beat.
STRETCH, STRENGTH TECHNIQUE
Stretch, strength, technique is a class open to all ages (from 8 years to adults!) focused on increasing flexibility and fitness in order to improve overall dance technique and ability.
It is taught by a qualified dance teacher, Pilates instructor and Exercise scientist who puts the needs of each student first, supporting them and ensuring the highest level of safety in dance. This class is perfect for those looking to increase their flexibility, improve technique in all areas of dance and enhance overall health and wellbeing.
TODDLERS
Our dance class for Toddlers (ages 2-3 years) introduces children to the concept of dance and music utilising a range of fun and engaging movements, music, instruments and games to keep your little ones active & engaged!

THE BELLARINAS
Our Bellarinas class is unlike any other preschool dance class! This program was created and is taught by an Early Childhood and dance professional and is targeted specifically for preschool children aged 4-5 years.
The program was developed in consultation with the Early Years Learning Framework to support the holistic development of every child. Not only is this class full of fun and excitement as it introduces the children to the key foundations of ballet and jazz, but it also builds on confidence, gross motor and fundamental movement skills, and social skills whilst fostering a love of dance in your little ones.
PULSE PETITES
Pulse Petites is a combination class ideal for students in kindergarten. The class combines the dance styles of Ballet, Jazz and Tap to expose students to various techniques and dance terms, giving them a solid understanding of the foundations of dance.
Taught by an Early Childhood and teaching professional, the class enhances and aids the child’s development and fosters a love of dance in every child in a fun and supportive environment.
SHOW GROUP
Our Showgroup/Troupe class is for students enrolled in all styles of dance. It is a class dedicated to extending the skills already acquired and focusing on technique improvement and acceleration of knowledge. Students who attend this class will have various performance opportunities throughout the year and will be exposed to a higher level of dance skill and technique.
